Contract Counselors Privacy Policy
This document sets forth the Contract Counselors policies for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
1. Nature and Objectives of Data Processing
1.1 Contract Counselors provides a platform-based service as defined in the Terms and Conditions. In order to provide the services of matching service buyers with service sellers, personal data from the end-users will be collected, processed and stored. We do not sell, share, or disclose personal data other than as described in this policy.
1.2 Personal data is processed to provide our core service to the users, namely the provision of a freelance marketplace that facilitates contracts between freelancers and hiring attorneys.
1.3 If you register to sell or obtain services through Contract Counselors we collect and store certain personal information which you submit, including: first and last name, email information, phone number, address, work information, professional license and/or disciplinary information, and general work experience and preferences.
1.4 Payment information. Contract Counselors uses a third-party provider, Stripe, as the payment processor. As such, no credit card or bank information is stored by Contract Counselors.
1.4 The following technical data is also automatically collected and processed:
(i) IP address
(ii) Geographical location data based on the IP address;
(iii) Service access times;
(iv) Statistics on page views;
(v) any other automatically collected technical data.
1.5. Furthermore, we may also collect other anonymized statistics about the way the User uses the services provided by Contract Counselors.
1.6 The activities for which personal data is used include the following:
(i) Service. The main reason we collect personal data is to provide the Contract Counselors platform and services, to issue accurate charges for the use of the services and to manage the user relationship. The processing of personal data includes, for example, the data collected during the signing up for the service, during the use of the service and the technical data needed to run the service in a secure manner and communications with users.
(ii) Marketing and other communications. We may occasionally email users to inform them about new features, solicit feedback, or provide information regarding the Contract Counselors platform. We base this on our legitimate interest to provide users with relevant information as part of the services and to promote our services.
(iii) Service development and research. We always work to make our services better. Therefore, we may use the user’s data to improve the services. We base this processing on our legitimate interest to grow and develop.
(iv) We may also collect technical data for statistical purposes to compile anonymous, aggregated statistics. We may display information publicly in an aggregate format that does not reveal statistics of any single user.
2. Disclosure of Information
2.1 Contract Counselors does not share personal information with any third parties except as disclosed in this privacy policy.
2.2 We may disclose personal information when required by law such as to comply with requests by competent authorities or in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request.
2.3 We may disclose personal information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, investigate fraud or to protect our users’ safety or rights.
2.4 If any Contract Counselors assets are acquired by a third-party, in whole or in part, we may share your personal information with such third-party. We may also share your personal information with any future parent company or subsidiary company.
2.5 We may provide personal information to our subcontractors, employees, advisors, and/or third parties that work on behalf of Contract Counselors in furtherance of providing the Contract Counselors Services.
2.6 As part of registration, you may set up a profile providing certain personal information. This profile information is available for any other registered user to access. We do not have any obligation under this Privacy Policy with respect to information in your profile or information which you provide to other users of the site voluntarily. Your basic profile background information is intended to be publicly available.
3. Security
3.1 Contract Counselors utilizes industry leading infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) for protection of the security, confidentiality, and integrity of Personal Data. The security tools and processes used include the following.
3.2 Access Control: Only authorized administrators, users and applications have access to applications. Multi-Factor Authorization is required for administrators.
3.3 Monitoring and Logging: Every event is logged with AWS CloudTrail, and monitored via AWS CloudWatch.
3.4 Encryption: All requests must be made via HTTPS, so data is encrypted in transit with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates. All user data is encrypted at rest with AES256 via AWS S3 and AWS DynamoDB.
4. Duration and Termination
4.1 Users’ data will be processed from the time they register on the platform, until they request their profile to be deleted, except where data is required to be retained for legal reasons. Data relating to website non-user visitors are automatically deleted within 5 years from first entry.
4.2 We shall delete or return Personal Data to the users after the end of Services and shall delete existing copies unless applicable law requires storage of such data. In case the user demands that the Personal Data are returned to the user or to a third party, the user will pay for the reasonable costs and expenses arising from such return of the Personal Data.
5. Cookies and Links
5.1 Contract Counselors may use cookies and similar technology in connection with your use of the Site to improve the user experience. A user may access the Site with the cookie feature turned off. However, this may impact the user experience.
5.2 Contract Counselors may use links to third party websites. Contract Counselors has no control over personal data and information provided by users to third party websites. Users should read the privacy statements of any third-party websites before using them.
